PRIVATE LESSONS

Amanda's Music Studio is located in her home in NW Greensboro.

Lessons are 30 minutes and are scheduled Monday through Wednesday.

​

Percussion

Amanda uses a total percussion philosophy where all students learn to play each

area of the percussion section (snare drum, mallets, timpani, drum set).

Each student will learn proper technique on each instrument and be able to read music. Students are encouraged to perform in our percussion ensemble and to partner with other students at their level to perform duets or small ensemble pieces.

Piano

Piano students will study piano theory and techniques with the Faber Piano Adventures series. Lessons will be supplemented with "pop" or broadway arrangements fitting the students interests, as well as standard "classical" repertoire.

Group Percussion Lessons

Due to overwhelming student interest in percussion in beginning band, many middle school band programs are now requiring audition into these sections. Amanda is now offering group lessons to accomodate younger students and those wishing to get a head start in learning basic percussion techniques and music reading to prepare for middle school band programs. Group lessons are an econimocal way to get started in private lessons before moving on to more advanced pedagogy.

Students will only be required to purchase a practice pad and sticks for the first semester and lessons will focus on technique, rhythm reading, and basic musical notation. After completion of the first class, pitched music and mallet instruments will be introduced.

Lessons will include up to five students at a session and be scheduled based on interest.
