About Amanda

Amanda has been performing and teaching private lessons in the triad area for over 20 years. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and a Masters in Percussion Performance from the UNCG School of Music.

In addition to private lessons for ages K-12, Ms. Sycamore has taught at the college level at UNCG and Elon University. She has taught private lessons for the UNCG Summer Music Camps and works with many area high school drum lines.

Amanda is currently the Principle Percussionist for the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra and performs for many area theater groups as well as other performing organizations. She can be found in the studio recording as a session player for many area artists and university class projects.

Amanda is a member of the band LOW KEY and recently started performing with the vintage jazz group, TEA CUP GIN. In the past, she had a blast performing with THE BEAUTY OPERATORS, 'diggin' the blues' out of Durham and touring with SHOOT TO THRILL, an all female AC/DC tribute band. She spent three years performing for Busch Gardens Williamsburg Entertainment and learned the Scottish drumming tradition when she spent 8 years playing Scottish snare for the Jamestown Pipes and Drums competitive pipes band.

As the winner of the UNCG concerto competition, she has performed as a marimba soloist with area orchestras and for the North Carolina Day of Percussion as well as PASIC International Conventions. When she is not performing, she enjoys spending time with her son Aidan, and puppy Koda.
